Matthew 16:24-26 (NIV)
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Today’s text gave life direction to Francis of Assisi.
What directions, if any, does the text give you?
Write down the direction God may be asking you to take.
So many people today are so self-absorbed. Selfishness and instant gratification seem to make the world go around. Often the way to gain power, position, financial success and popularity, entices people to compromise their morals and values to get there. Lord forgive us…forgive me. Help me to relinquish my ego and submit it at Your feet. Help my main focus to be serving You and on doing Your will. Help me to be true to You in my business dealings, in my family affairs and in everything that I do. Allow me to follow You and Your will above my own desires and make my priorities Your priorities. I am Yours and all I have is Yours. Amen.
