About

Welcome!

We are so glad that you are taking the time to check out Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  We would love for you to join us in worship!  Since 1967, we have been located in Hubertus, Wisconsin serving the Washington County area. We are part of the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the Augustana District.

Our mission statement, We are called to build a community that lives by and for the Gospel, means that we believe that God has called each of us as individuals to come together into a particular congregation to join in Christian love, fellowship, and service.  Together we strive to allow the Gospel to transform our hearts and lives.  If you did not catch the irony of that last statement go back and read it again.  Striving is a word used to describe active, struggling pursuit of something, but the Gospel is the Good News that Jesus is pursuing US!

It is God’s forgiveness and love that transforms us into the individuals and the community that He wants us to be.  Our striving and work is allowing God to work in us.

We are excited to see what God has in store for Shepherd of the Hills as we look to the future being built up in His grace, love, and truth as a community firmly rooted in the Good News that Jesus is our salvation, peace, and liberation.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church believes that the church is the living body of Christ on earth: The Church is God’s family, called by the Holy Spirit, united under the leadership of Jesus, living in fellowship with Him, and doing His work in the world. We invite you to learn more about our Church by browsing through our website, if you have any questions, please contact us at 262-628-2633.

“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”   – 2 Corinthians 13:14

Our Pastor

After serving 12 years as Associate Pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Valencia, CA, Pastor Matzek has decided to return to the Midwest to begin a new chapter in his ministry.  He has extensive experience in preaching, teaching, developing leaders, and building small group and prayer ministries. Pastor Mike places a strong emphasis on “helping people hear God’s voice in their lives and equipping them to answer God’s call to minister to others”. He is especially passionate about taking Biblical stories and connecting them to our current context. He enjoys “telling the stories of the people of the Bible and how they encountered the living God, and what that means for our lives today.
