Shepherd of the Hills voted to change its church affiliation from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to the Augustana District (AD) of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. (LCMC) in 2011. Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ is an association of congregations and individuals who are:
- free in Christ;
- accountable to one another;
- rooted in the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions;
- working together to fulfill Christ’s Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations.
The Augustana District is a non-geographic district in Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) emphasizing classic Lutheran theology and providing services to congregations and pastors. We are bound together by a Statement of Faith which rigorously binds us to the Holy Scriptures, the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, and the other writings of the Book of Concord.
This is Dr. Gemechis Buba speaking at the Augustana District Convention Saturday April 26, 2014 in Hutchinson. Dr. Buba, from Ethiopia, first served in America as Director of African National Ministries located in Texas and Colorado and later became the ELCA Mission Direction for North America. He resigned in opposition to the ELCA’s new teaching and policies regarding human sexuality and marriage. He was one of the first prominent leaders to leave the national offices in Chicago. He then became Mission Director for the NALC, (North American Lutheran Church) a sister to our Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) Dr. Buba is an inspiring speaker and teacher of Scripture.
Sola Publishing is an educational ministry serving the congregations of: NALC, LCMC, CALC, Lutheran Core, and other orthodox Christians looking for teaching resources that are trustworthy and useful, at a reasonable price. This is our Pastor’s most frequently used website. The Gospel Coalition is a group of pastors and churches which are deeply committed to renewing our faith in the gospel of Christ and to reforming our ministry practices to conform fully to the Scriptures. Our leaders regularly attend TGC events, and many of our small groups use teaching resources written by TGC members, especially Tim Keller. If you are traveling, use their “church finder” to find a worthwhile congregation to visit.
The Willow Creek Association is a large collection of Bible teaching churches which are committed to making the leadership changes which are necessary to reach today’s world for the Kingdom of God. We have been blessed in particular by their leadership training resources and events. WCA also has a church finder function on their website, which can help you find a church to worship at when you are out of town.
