Matthew 28:16-20  (NIV)
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

There is a piece of this famous passage that often gets overlooked. These verses are often called “The Great Commission”. Yet, just before Jesus gives them their mission to “go” we hear something very comforting about those standing around Jesus, this man who had died and rose again. The eleven disciples (#12, Judas is gone) worship and “some doubted”. That is incredibly comforting to me. The closest followers of Jesus, the ones that he commissioned and sent out to build his church and spread the good news of his resurrection doubted. We will not always know exactly what the right decision is or what God is doing. We might doubt and find ourselves confused, frustrated, anxious and afraid. But Jesus is faithful, and God is always merciful. You are loved! Now “go” and love.
