Matthew 6:19-24 (NIV)
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

True Treasure—Think deeply. What/whom are you serving?
Is there anything that needs to change in your life? How so?

Lord temptations are swirling around me. I am bombarded by marketing campaigns on the TV, computer, phone, email, and mailings, all telling me that my life will be better only if I buy something, do something or use something that I don’t have that I don’t really need. I see rich and powerful people showing off their latest cosmetic discovery, social circles and amazing wardrobes making me feel frumpy, old and lonely. Lord, none of that will make me happy or give me fulfillment. Only You can do that. Help me to keep my eyes focused on You and In Your Word so that I am content, and satisfied with the wonderful gifts that You have blessed me with. I don’t have an image to portray, I don’t have mansions to protect and I am comfortable with who I am and that is a Child of God. Allow me to to see those who need to be loved so I can love them, those who are lacking the basic food, shelter or protection so I can share what I have with them and those who may not have heard about Your saving Grace so that I can share Your Gospel message of eternal salvation. Fill me with Your Spirit, with Your peace and Your joy from serving You and others and not on selfishly serving myself. Amen
