Matthew 7:21 (NIV)
True and False Disciples
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Definition of Lord: (Kurios) an owner–one who has the disposal of anything. Master–one to whom service is due on any ground
(Despote): one who has absolute power or ownership.

What do today’s texts speak to you about your relationship with Christ, the Lord?

What may you need to do/how may you need to change in response to how your Lord speaks to your heart from these passages?

Holy God, there are many people today who say that they are “Christians” but do not follow Your Word. In their private lives, their behavior causes pain, division, and heartache. They cheat, lie and do whatever it takes to gain money, power or what they consider success. Their morales are tainted and ethics are stained. But when in public they speak words that sound like they belong to You. This hypocritical behavior causes damage to Your Church and pushes people away from You, staining all Christians. Lord, please help my behavior behind closed doors be consistent in public. Help me be pure in heart and seek to follow Your will in all aspects of my life. Allow me to love my neighbor, serve the needy, worship You with all of my being and build my relationship with you through prayer, studying Your Word and through sermons to hear Your voice guide me to do Your will. Give me the heart to follow Your will so that when You return, I will be with You for all of eternity. Amen.
