Psalm 132:11-18  (NIV)
11 The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne. 12 If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne forever and ever.” 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, 14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it. 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy. 17 “Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.”

Psalm 132:11 says that God made a promise to David. This is first recounted in the Old Testament in 2 Samuel 7. The New Testament tells us that Jesus is the fulfillment of this promise. God has been obedient to His promise. That might sound odd to us because we usually talk about us being obedient to God! But the Bible is filled with this theme. Over and over again God makes promises and God is obedient to the promises that He has made. That is good news for us! God has promised us salvation and a place in His kingdom. It does not depend on us. Like Psalm 132 it is ok to ask God to fulfill what He has promised! It is ok to ask God to remember and to act. In fact, God is waiting for you to do this very thing! Go ahead.
