Hebrews 13:5-6 (NIV)
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” 6 So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Puritan Joseph Caryl wrote: “Faith is a sword that can slay four monsters of the sinful heart.” Discontentment, Envy, Pride, Contempt
Which monster is found in today’s text?
Is there some way you may need to apply your faith to one or more of these monsters?

Help me be content and relaxed with the material possession that I have. I don’t need to have my mindset on money or things because You have promised that as I set my mind on You, You will take care of these things for me. Instead, let me not be afraid of the future, but walk with confidence that You will protect me in all things. I praise you, Lord, for Your gifts and Your promises. Amen.
