Luke 24:44-49  (NIV)
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

A while back, someone came to me with a question about what a certain passage in the book of Revelation meant. They were curious to hear not only what their pastor thought, but also to pick the brain of someone who had studied scripture in an academic setting. My response was simple: it’s about Jesus. I know it sounds simplistic, but after the Resurrection Jesus tells His followers the same thing! Everything in the scriptures are about Jesus and point to Jesus and are fulfilled in Jesus. Why? Because He is the living, beating, blood-pumping heart of God. In the Bible, people like you and me are part of the story, but the story belongs to and is about God’s love and faithfulness, not ours. Through the gift of the promised Holy Spirit we are made part of God’s story. What might be God doing in your life right now to draw you deeper into His story?
