Acts 2:38-39

“Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.””

These words from Peter are spoken to the congregation on the day of Pentecost. This proclamation reaches us on this day too! The promise of repentance and forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit is promised “for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call”. (Acts 2:39) That’s US!! The Holy Spirit, our God, guides and directs us, inspires us to pray, teaches and councils us as we live our lives of faith within the gathered community and throughout our days in the wider world. Today, consider those people who you look up to. Who inspires your faith, or challenges you to pray and study? Thank God for their encouragement to you. Now… who are you leading by example? Who do you hope sees God more clearly because of your life, your faith, your example? Pray that God will give them, ever more, the gift of faith.
