Psalm 3 (ESV)
Save Me, O My God
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.
3 O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; 2 many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah

3 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 4 I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah

5 I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. 7 Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. 8 Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Selah

What foes are you facing right now?

O Lord, the disintegration of society keeps me awake at night. The deterioration of morals and lack of respect for life aches my heart. The selfish, power-hungry anger gives me great concern for our future. I am distressed to witness our precious freedoms, liberties, the ability to have opinions that are contrary to the mob, and the right to speak my ideas crumble before our very lives. The safety of our people is at risk. The ability to worship as a community freely without fear is fleeting.  The foundation and values that I hold so dear are being threatened to the core and it causes me alarm. But you, O Lord, are my shield, and you give me victory and great honor. Help me to sleep comfortably and wake up refreshed because you, Lord, protect me. Come and save me, Lord God! Satan has come to destroy the people of this great nation, but You are greater than Satan. Protect and bless Your people. Give me the courage to stand up for Your truth and shine Your light into the world that desperately needs You. Show me in what ways You want me to reach out and serve others to bring all people together through Your love. Thank You for Your hope and promise of salvation in eternity where there is no evil, selfishness, or fear. I will praise and worship You no matter what I see failing around me. I submit to You and trust in Your will. Amen
