Mark 10:46-52 NIV
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

If Jesus asked you ‘what do you want me to do for you?” what would you do?

Lord, sometimes my prayers are more like casual wish lists than a serious conversation with You. I find myself shooting up prayers for good weather for a party, for the team I am rooting for to win, or that I make traffic lights when I’m in a hurry. Before meals and before bed I recite memorized prayers that ask You to be my guest for dinner or to keep me safe until morning light but that is sometimes just familiar words. It is such a privilege to speak directly to the God of all creation but sometimes I take that privilege for granted. Forgive me, Lord. I do spend time daily in prayer asking for healing for those who are sick, those who are lonely or grieving, for those who have been hurt or otherwise need Your care, and pray for relief from my ills, aches, and pains. I pray for salvation for my kids and grandkids, that they accept You as Lord and will dwell in Your house for eternity. I ask for wisdom and faith and for You to direct my path. But if You would ask me what one thing, I want You to do for me, as You did to Bartimaeus, I would look You in the eye without hesitation and ask for revival. A global revival to bring people to see Your Glory and have faith in You.  As part of the revival, I would pray that my church would be on fire for You. That Your Spirit would fill people’s hearts, including my family’s, with Your love.  I would pray that with the revival people will not only know You as Lord but their lives would be transformed with the biblical principles of integrity, morality, respect, and honor. I pray that the gospel message of Your love, grace, and salvation spreads like wildfire. I pray that eyes are opened to see Your Glory and people are released from the grips of hatred and evil. Revival starts with me. Let my prayers be personal conversations for You so that I grow in righteousness as I spend quality time with You. Strengthen my relationship with You as I share my heart with You and then share You with others. Lord, open the eyes for all to see You and to understand all that You have done through Your death on the cross. Let a revival bring unity and give us a foretaste of the joy of heaven on earth. Let Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen
