1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)
15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

Definition of Lord: (Kurios) an owner–one who has the disposal of anything. Master–one to whom service is due on any ground
(Despote): one who has absolute power or ownership.

What do today’s texts speak to you about your relationship with Christ, the Lord?

What may you need to do/how may you need to change in response to how your Lord speaks to your heart from these passages?

Holy Jesus, Your life was a model of how to live in love and passing on the good news to all who were around you by Your actions as well as Your words. I know that I have an influence on other people by the example that I set. This certainly applies to my family, work colleagues, friends, and casual acquaintances. Allow my life to be captivated by your holy beauty so that I can preach a better sermon with my life than with my lips.  When I am asked about You, help me not to be ashamed to speak, but keep arrogance and rudeness from my mouth that could push people away from You. Help my verbal defense be a moral defense. Sometimes being honorable isn’t enough and people can still be critical, offensive and downright nasty because I live for You. You were an amazing model in dealing with people who were nasty. Help me to be strong, knowing that no matter what people say, You know the truth. Allow me to continue in peace to live as You desire. Amen
