Matthew 9:35-38  (NIV)
The Workers Are Few
35 Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

How has God shown compassion toward you?  Others you know?

To which Bible text above can you most relate?  In what way?

Do you deserve God’s compassion?  Why or why not?

On whom, if anyone, do you have compassion?  For what reason?  How have you shown it?

Are any of those upon which you have compassion people you don’t know, don’t like, or of which you are afraid?  If not, what could you do to experience an attitude change?

Lord, this world is hurting. So many people have an abundance of possessions and self-fulfillment but are empty and hopelessly lost. You love them and have compassion on them. The truth of Your gospel and Your saving grace will bring them close to you and fill the void in their lives. Give those who know You already the boldness to share the story of Your love with those who may have ignored it, rejected it or never have heard it. Send out workers into the field. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. I am a worker Lord, Use me. Amen
