Hebrews 4:8-11a (NIV)
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest,
1. What do you think is meant by “rest” in this text from Hebrews 4? Rest from what?
Holy God, life is hard and can be filled with many challenges and heartbreaks. You never promised that it would be an easy road. But when I accepted You as Savior, I received Your promise of eventual and eternal rest with You at the end of this journey on earth. I believe Your promise. Thank You that I can look forward to an eternity of wonderful rest with You. Until that time, Help me enjoy rest and peace today as I trust in You and Your Word. I believe that You will take care of me and provide for all of my needs. Amen
