Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Choose one or two key verses from the Scripture reading in Philippians today and do at least one of the following for your chosen verse(s).
A – Ask questions of the text (Who, what, why, where, when)
E – Emphasize certain words as you read the text over & over
I – In your own words (paraphrase one or more verses)
O – Other verses in the Bible that say the same or opposite
U – Use it; apply the truth from the text in your life
King Jesus, You came down from Your throne to this earth as a vulnerable baby and humbled Yourself as a servant of all. I am inclined to cherish worldly possessions and status achieved in this world. Please forgive me. Change my focus from me to You. Help me to be obedient to You and Your Word. I want to humble myself and submit my life to You. Bring contentment and joy in my life through serving You and those in need. In Your Holy name, Amen
