1 Kings 18:21 (NIV)
21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.
Definition of Lord: (Kurios) an owner–one who has the disposal of anything. Master–one to whom service is due on any ground
(Despote): one who has absolute power or ownership.
What do today’s texts speak to you about your relationship with Christ, the Lord?
What may you need to do/how may you need to change in response to how your Lord speaks to your heart from these passages?
Lord, You are the only God and all You say is Truth and Life! But before I stand too proudly and pointing my fingers at the people in Elijah’s day who followed Baal, I need to look at the idols in my own day. How many times do I place my financial security, my family, my comfort, my image, or my goals above You? Forgive me, Lord. I want to follow You and put You first in my life above ALL things. On the final day when You return, nothing will have meaning but my relationship with You. Help me to rearrange my days, my goals and priorities to put You first and follow You. Amen
