Galatians 4:6-9 (NIV)

Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Paul’s Concern for the Galatians

Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?

Because of what Jesus did on the cross, covering our nakedness and removing our shame, we have been adopted into the family of God. As children we are loved and cherished. We are free to live without fear that God will banish us from His presence. No one can take God’s love away! And nothing we can do will ever stop God from loving us. His love is a free gift. God knows you, everything about you. He sees the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, the pain and the joy, the doubt and the certainty. Being known by God is not a bad thing. In fact, it is the best news you could ever imagine. But like any child, as we grow older and live day to day, the hard part is believing that our Father does and always will love us. Are we really loved? What if we do something wrong?  Will our Father stop loving us? Will we live each day knowing we are loved?  Or will we live in fear, trying to please God by being perfect? The cross says we are not perfect, but we are perfectly loved.
