Matthew 6:19-24  (NIV)
Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

If your spiritual eyesight is healthy, what might that say about your attitude toward earthly wealth?

Lord God, You have created this world with an abundance of amazing things to provide pleasure, satisfaction, contentment, and fulfillment. The culture of this world wants me to believe that what You provide is not enough, that I need possessions, status, enhancements to my body and social interactions on the internet to make me happy. The world is a liar – possessions won’t make me happy. Help me to focus on You, Jesus. Help me to dig deep into Your Word so that my heart can be open to Your Spirit and desire only Your will for me. Open my eyes to see the wonderful gifts that are right in front of me and not compare my gifts to others. Make me consciously aware of TV Programs or internet dangers that can destroy my heart so I turn away immediately but instead show me things that fill me with Your Love. Help me to see through Your eyes and be content with what You have blessed me with and who You have made me be. Thank You that I am Your blessed Child and that You provide me all that I need. Amen
