Revelation 21:1-6 (NIV)
A New Heaven and a New Earth
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty, I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

The answer to: “What if my suffering doesn’t end in this life?”

Holy Father, I come to you for comfort and hope. It seems like I am surrounded by stories of people suffering from cancer or other terrible health issues, grieving from death and loneliness, broken relationships, hostilities, anger and the painful manipulative things humans do to each other to gain power and attention. All that is going on in this world is making my head spin. I want to provide comfort to those who are hurting or are in fear and struggling to sustain in their current pain and heartache. I feel insignificant. I look with hope to the new world that You are creating for us in heaven. One where there is no more death, mourning, crying or pain. Our bodies will be new and will not be plagued with sickness, aging, and death. Our hearts will be cleared of all sin including pride, selfishness, and anger and replaced with love, joy, and peace that will never end. I look with hope for that place where I can see You face to face. A place where I can hear you say my name and physically hold me. I am holding on with hope for the time when I can praise You as You sit on your throne. I am thirsty, Lord, refresh me with Your Spirit until I can be refreshed eternally in Your kingdom. Amen
