Matthew 3:13-17  (NIV)
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.”

To what new roll is God calling Jesus and John.

Lord, You call us to new places for different seasons of life. John and Jesus were being redirected to their new roles through Your baptism. One is sent out to a ministry and one to submit to the other. It is a pivotal point and both men recognized the transition to Your call. Help me to clearly hear when You call me to a new place. Help me to not hold on to an old call when You are done with it. I thank you for the blessings of past services I have been called to do and may grieve the changes, but by not following Your call to something new, I will totally miss what You have in store for my life. Help me realize too, that transitioning to a new call will not always be easy. Jesus was immediately sent from His baptism to the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Help me to not be disheartened with challenges of transitions to any new thing You are doing in me. Allow me to trust fully in You and fully submit in Your guidance. Let me declare the same truth the Father declared over Jesus to give me the strength daily, especially during the season of redirection; I am a child of God, I am loved and You are pleased with me. Amen
