Daily Devotions – How will they know?

Romans 10:14-17 (ESV)

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?[a] And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Paul is making an argument to us in this passage. He is asking us about the people we love. How will those people know that they have a Savior who loves them if they have never heard of him? Many people in our lives have heard of Jesus, but that is becoming less and less true. But even if they have heard of Jesus, they do not really know who he is or exactly what he has done for them! Our job is to preach to them. I know this sounds intimidating, but think about the people you listed yesterday. Take time to listen when you are near them. What things are they struggling with? What things are causing fear and anxiety? What things are causing pain? Are they looking for a community to belong to? Now think about how the Gospel can answer those questions and pray that the Holy Spirit can help you humbly preach Jesus into their hearts and lives.
