Daily Devotions – Gospel Relationships

Philippians 2:1-4  (NIV)
Imitating Christ’s Humility
2 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

While all our relationships are important, this week our devotions will focus on how we relate to one another as Christians. Is there anyone you know at church or that is a Christian that you do not like or really frustrates you? While Jesus was far more than a model for how to live, his example is still valuable. What did Jesus do to and for the people that hurt him and abandoned him? He forgave them and loved them. Write down two or three names of Christians that are difficult for you to be in a relationship with (use the margins of this sheet). This week ask God’s blessings to be upon them and that God would help you learn to “value others above yourself” and seek their interests.
