Titus 3:3-7 (NIV)
3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Lord, there is a striking contrast between my life before I experienced a relationship with You and my life afterward. You transformed me out of Your loving kindness and love, not because of what I did but because of Your mercy. Doing good and being kind to others is a natural response to Your kindness and love for me. I often think of the kindness of family and friends, but Lord, You are infinitely more kind than that. Out of Your kindness and love, You gave Your life so that I could be forgiven and then You filled me with Your Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who enables me and empowers me to do good. Help my life reflect the kindness and love that comes from You. Thank You for the way in which You have transformed my life. Help me to lead a productive life and do good in Your name. Amen.
