2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but… I talk a lot! I’d always rather have a conversation with someone than do anything else. So, I’m always excited about a passage that encourages me to talk: speaking to God in prayer and talking to people outside our community sound like a great way to spend the day. Yet, I’m always cautioned by verse 6, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone”. My conversations are not always full of grace. How about you? Today, join me in reflecting on how we treat those outside of our community. How can we speak with grace, proclaiming our Lord Jesus while loving those we meet?
