Genesis 1:26-27 (NIV)

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Part of our “falling out of grace” is forgetting who we are and being blind to who others are. God makes a shocking pronouncement in the first chapter of the Bible: that humans, all of them, are made in the image of God no matter what they have done, their social or economic status, their race, religion or politics. That is radical and game-changing. How often do you forget that God made you precious and valuable? Or how often are you blind to the preciousness and value of others? Think about all the people you interacted with yesterday or today. Did you treat them as if they were made in the image of God? Let us ask Christ to set us free from our forgetfulness and blindness and that He would give us eyes to see the truth: that we are all made in the image of God.
