1 Chronicles 29:14-17 (NIV)
14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. 15 We are foreigners and strangers in your sight, as were all our ancestors. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. 16 Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you. 17 I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.
What action does humility take in these verses? What action may you need to take?
My Lord and God, I have been so richly blessed. Each morning You have given me the gift of a new day. I have been blessed to be born in a nation and in a time of prosperity. I realize that all that I have is a generous gift that comes only from You and truly belongs to You. Help me to be a good steward of my life and all the things that I have been given and use them wisely. Allow me to be generous with the portion that You have allowed for me to use while I am on this earth and feel comfortable to share it freely with those who have been given less than I have. Keep my focus not on what I have but how I can use it to spread Your love. Fill my heart with integrity and keep my motives pure so that I can serve You with pure joy. Thank You, for everything, Lord Amen.
