Matthew 8:1-3 (NIV)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy
8 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

Matthew 10:8 (NIV)
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Are there people you are afraid to touch? If so, why? Pray for God to release you from that fear.

I have never seen leprosy. I can’t imagine the pain and agony that it causes the people who have it. Not only do they need medical care, but they also need friendly support like anyone would who is scared and ill. Thank You, Lord, for the many servants who unselfishly reach out to people with leprosy or other severe ailments to bring them relief, comfort and hope. Sometimes I am uncomfortable around people who have severe medical issues because although I want to be kind, I don’t know what to say to bring them comfort. Sometimes it is my lack of knowledge and sometimes it is just my fear of saying something wrong. Instead, allow me to see the person’s heart. Help me to be a friend that provides support, offers a helping hand and spends quality time with those who may be suffering physically. Give me gentle words that are respectful, and caring. Show me how to love like You, Jesus. In Your Holy Name. Amen
