Galatians 5:13-18  (NIV)
Life by the Spirit
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

In America, we think freedom is about “me”. I am free to choose what I want to do with my life, where I want to go, who I want to marry, what I put into my body, etc. But Christian freedom is actually freedom from this self-worship! Whether we like it or not, we are not the center of the universe. When we trust in the One who is at the center of the universe we are set free to love and be loved. So, will you “bite and devour” your Christian brothers and sisters? Will you snap at them for not doing things the way you think they should be done? Will you look down on others thinking you know what is right and best? Or will you love others with the forgiveness, mercy and grace that you have already received from Jesus? (Keep praying for others today).
