Psalm 121  (NIV)

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Journeys can be fraught with peril.  Well, that might be overstating it a little… Most journeys are highly uneventful, thankfully.  Yet, every now and again, you leave your house only to slip on the ice or the car won’t start.  Our adventures by plane, train, and automobile can provide many examples.  When we add in our journey through life, the list can grow quickly: missteps with friends, fights with family, anger, greed and general frustration.  “From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth”. (Ps 121:1b-2) The answer is the same: yesterday, today and forever more.  Today, with any struggle or miss-step, with each difficult moment, turn your thoughts to God.  At the end of this day, take a moment to praise God for his faithfulness, for his ever-watchful presence.
