Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. 8 They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Psalm 1:1-4 (NIV)

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

Where’s your stream?  Where are you drinking deeply of God’s word?  When are you finding time for study and service?  Though it is always helpful to take time apart to study and pray, today I invite you to consider all the other opportunities God provides you to drink deeply of his presence.  Today, keep watch!  Are there little opportunities to pray throughout your day?  Are there friends to serve or ways to help a neighbor?  Is there a simple word of kindness to share?  I encourage you in today’s quiet time of study, and I challenge you to keep your eyes and heart open as God works throughout your day.  Keep watch for opportunities to praise God, to pray and to be gracious and kind wherever you find yourself today.
