Ruth 4:13-16 (NIV)

13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.14 The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” 16 Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him.

Was there a time in your life where you knew that God had done something? In the story of Ruth, God is only said to be directly involved 2 times. Once when he ends a famine (Ruth 1:6) and here, when the Lord enables her to conceive. The rest of the story God is involved, but behind the scenes making sure things just happen to “turn out” right (see Ruth 2:3). We will look at more ways that God works “behind the scenes” this week, but today in your prayers thank God for the few times that He has directly acted in incredible ways and then thank Him for the lifetime of seemingly indirect things that have “turned out” to be God’s love and blessing in your life.
