Genesis 29:31 (NIV)
31 When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless.

Who were those who had to deal with deferred hope?
How did they deal with it?

Wise Lord, I am impatient and I want things to happen right now. I don’t want to suffer, be in pain, or have to be inconvenienced. But sometimes things just don’t happen when I want them to and I have to wait. You know that I either have things to learn, or there are other components that need to be set in motion before what I want will be successful so You make me wait in anticipation. I can be impatient not understanding, but You see the future and the big picture. Help me to recognize my unhealthy self-reliance and instead allow for me to trust and hope in the things that only You can provide. And when my prayers are answered help me to give You the glory instead of taking the blessings for granted. Your timing is not my timing. Your delays are intentional and You are never late but your timing is always perfect. Help me to patiently trust in You. Amen.
