Matthew 6:7-15  (NIV)
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 “This, then, is how you should pray:“‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ 14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

During the first few months of being a mom, my life was a wreck.  I don’t know if anyone has told you, but parenthood is crazy-complicated.  I was so overjoyed to have our little Isaiah, but those early days were filled with difficulty, heartache, and struggle.  And, to top it all off, my mind was mush.  I couldn’t read, I couldn’t watch tv and, worst of all, I couldn’t sing; not because I didn’t have a voice but because I couldn’t remember any songs… except one.  The one thing I could hold in my head was the Lord’s Prayer.  It’s still not my favorite song, but for months, it was all I could sing; all I could keep in my head.  How perfect that Jesus gave us words to express it all, our joy and our sorrow, all that we are we bring before our Father God.  Let us present our lives, all of it – the good and the bad – to God this day.
