What to Expect
Our members range from infants to great-grandparents and come from many different backgrounds and experiences. As Jesus said we are to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we would certainly be glad to have you join us whether you come alone, with a friend or as a family.
Where do I go when I get there?
The worship services are Sunday at 8:30am, 10:30am and Monday at 6:30pm. You will be met by greeters in the lobby who will assist you. If you choose to worship in the morning, we encourage you to come to the Adult Education and Fellowship hour. The Adult Education and Fellowship, as well as Children’s Sunday School is at 9:30am during the school year.
How should I dress?
Generally, people wear "business casual", although some people dress simply casual. If you like dressing up, that's fine too. What’s most important is that you come to worship God, and all of us at Shepherd of the Hills want you to feel comfortable and welcome.
What's the music like?
At the 8:30am Sunday service, you will find the music and service format are more traditional.
If you prefer contemporary music you may prefer our Sunday 10:30am or Monday 6:30pm services.
Can my children stay with me in the service?
Yes, if you'd prefer your children to stay with you during any service that is perfectly fine. Please note that we do have Children’s Activity Bags at the Welcome Desk for use during Worship, so please feel free to pick one up on your way into church and return it as you leave. In addition, there are Children’s Bulletins for different age groups available at the Welcome Desk as well. We do encourage you to allow your children (ages 3 – 8) to try out “Children’s Church” designed to reach them at their learning level, which is held simultaneously during our regular sermon. Children arrive and sit with you during the first 15 minutes or so of the service, after which they are dismissed to attend “Children’s Church.” The children then return to you after the sermon for the remainder of the service.
Is there a nursery for our younger children?
Yes. We would encourage you to visit our Nursery Room with your child to allow them to become acquainted with our attendants and begin to feel comfortable prior to the service. We utilize a nursery paging system so that parents can be contacted during the worship service.
Am I welcome to join in the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion?
Our Lord Jesus is the host of this communion meal. We welcome all baptized Christians to join us. Young children are encouraged to come and receive a blessing.
